March 9, 2025 Harmony Happening

Winter on the farm can be long sometimes but nature is letting us know that spring is just around the corner with the arrival of our newest additions to the farm.

Our four sows have broken a Harmony Farm record, 41 new little piglets all at once, almost too much cuteness to handle!

We are (probably) done hatching chicks for the season. This week’s little ones will start laying at the end of the summer, just on time to start building our flock for next season.

The group of baby quails that we hatched less than a month ago already outgrew their brooder. Greg went out the other morning to find that they had broken free and were running around the pen with the adults. They have grown some beautiful feathers and should be laying in about a month or so. Soy sauce quails eggs anyone?!

The last of our eggs to hatch were the ducklings. We didn’t have a fantastic hatch rate but I think that may just make me love them a bit more.

This week also marked the beginning of our 2025 mushroom season. We have a new organic mycelium supplier and are very happy with the first fruits of the season, beautiful and delicious!
