The leaves are turning, the kids are going back to school and our gardens are loving the cooler nights and extra moisture after a hot and dry summer.
Right now, we have more produce than we need for our farm members and market regulars.
We will preserve what we can so that we can offer farm fresh produce throughout the colder months (more on that later) and donate excess to Lanark, Leeds and Grenville Addictions and Mental Health.
We have also had lots of interest in our new “Farm Experiences” so will offer U-Pick veggies in addition to our U-pick flowers and herbs.
Here is how it will work:
- U-Pick will be open Fridays from 12-6
- Reserve a spot through our online store here:
- Let us know in the comments section how many are in your party and approximately what time you arrive
- We will walk you through the gardens to answer any questions and show you where your favourite veggies are growing
- After picking, weigh / measure your produce, tally your total (prices will be displayed and are the same as store prices; members save 10%) deduct the $10 reservation fee from your total and pay the remainder with cash or e-transfer.
This week we are offering our usual herbs and flowers as well as heirloom cherry and slicing tomatoes, yellow beans, watermelon, ground cherries, eggplants, zucchini and patty pan squash. Hopefully by next week we will be adding corn to the list of options!

Want to preserve the very best of summer flavours?
These oven dried tomatoes are easy to make, have no ultra processed additives and are the essence of summer flavour.
To start, pre-heat your oven to 175 degrees while you sort and wash cherry tomatoes.
Cut the tomatoes in half by placing like-sized tomatoes between two deli container lids, pressing gently to hold them in place and then slicing through all of them.
Next, place them, cut side up, on a parchment lined sheet pan and sprinkle them with salt ( a good pinch or two will do an entire tray).

Place them in the oven and allow them to slowly dehydrate until they have the consistency of a soft raisin.
The timing will vary depending on the size of tomato you are using, anywhere from 5-12 hours so just check them periodically and take them out to fully cool when they are done.
That’s it!
These will keep, sealed, for a few weeks in the fridge or throughout the winter in the freezer.
Want to try them before you make them? We have some that you can try!
